For 30 plus years I have practiced braiding as a form of meditation, centering and offering. Weaving our intentions and prayers can help to solidify connection and compassion to a person, place or thing. Braiding can be incorporated into sacred items such as drums and regalia. Braiding can be the offerings we tie into trees as a way to show graditude for the gifts this Earth gives us.
Starting in Feburary on the first Monday of the month at 7pm. I will be offering an open Zoom circle for people to come and braid together.
I will discuss methods of braiding, how to create a personal practice and the different materials you can use to braid with.
You will need to bring to the circle a scissors, strings, ribbons and yarns of your choosing. It is best to braid with natural fibers such as wool, silk, cotton, bamboo etc…. These fibers will break down and will go back into the earth without causing trouble to the soil and water.
You’ll want to sit in a comfortable place where you can spread out your materials and work with ease. Brew some tea and bring any prayers or intentions you want the group to witness for you.
We will start with and opening reading/insperation, introductions, then I will share some intructions as we braid and share for our time together. We will end with a closing prayer/insperation.
This circle is free to attend.
