In this 6 week series on ZOOM participants will learn how to make a variety of leather bags and pouches. Class will meet for 6 sessions starting February 11th at 7pm and the finally class will be on March 18th.
Bags and pouches have been part of the human experience for a while. They pre-date pockets. Bags have utilitarian functions( to carry things) as well as fashion and sacred intentions. The simplest an earliest forms of pouches and bags were bundles that items were rolled into and secured to carry from place to place. They can also be a place to keep something safe or hidden.
They have a rich and diverse history across the earth.
In the first two classes we will work on several smaller pouch designs to explore the possibilities of the materials and forms. The last 4 sessions will explore, develop and create a personal pouch project(s) each of the participants wants to make.
All Materials will be sent ahead of time. There will also be a tool list of things you will need to work with the leather.
